K-POP Phenomenon BTS enlists in the Korean Military, with Eldest member Kim Seok-Jin the first in enlistment order.

After years of public and private debate, K-pop group BTS announced  that all seven members of the K-pop phenomenon will join the mandatory South Korean military service  in the near future. The declaration comes just two days after the band's last scheduled performance and puts an end to a years-long discussion about how the South Korean government would manage the band's required service.

The statements come barely four months after the band caused confusion by canceling an announced "hiatus" and transitioning to "Chapter 2," which entails members focusing on personal projects while the band continues to promote itself.

In a note posted on the artist-to-fan communication website "Weverse," the group's management organisation states, "as each individual begins on independent efforts, it's the perfect time and the members of BTS are proud to serve."

The rest of the BTS members will follow him after their schedules have been completed. It was an emotional but exciting moment for the BTS ARMYs. Jin has also teamed with Coldplay on his hit, The Astronaut, as a gift for the ARMY before enlisting in the military. Jin reportedly requested a deferral in his enlistment but has now withdrew his request.
